Bulgarian flag: The Bulgarian flag comprises of white, green and red colours, respectively situated in horizontal order, one below the other. The White colour symbolises spirit and spirituality, the Green one symbolises fertility of Bulgarian lands and forests, the red colour expresses the braveness of Bulgarians and the shed blood in the name of liberty and independence.
Bulgarian coat of arms: The coat of arms is a standing gold crowned lion on a dark red field in the form of a shield. The shield is held by two erect gold crowned lions standing on two crossed oak fruited twigs. Beneath, in gold letters, it is written: “Unity makes strength.”

Climate: Damp continental, in the south parts: transitional Mediterranean. The annual rainfalls in the plains are 450-600 mm, and up to 1300 mm in the mountains.
